Learn the basic knit and purl stitch as well as the cast off and an easy cast on technique. Learn about the many options and characteristics of yarn and needles available. Additionally, participants will begin to learn how to read a pattern. Participants will have the option to select and begin their own first knit project at the end of the class.
This class will be a hybrid class of Zoom meetings and in person.
In person classes will take place at Plymouth Harbor Knits in Village Landing at 170 Water St. Please park in the free parking lot in the Village Landing complex. Plymouth Harbor Knits entrance is across from the Salt Bar.
All materials are included. (kits will be available for pick up before the first class)
July 2: Zoom The first class will start with a short review of needles and materials....intro to Zoom, discussion etc.
July 9: In person The second class would be in person to show each student the knit stitch.
July 16: In person The third class is a review of the knit stitch, and troubleshooting any issues. Depending upon the group, we sometimes can move right into the purl stitch.
July 23 In person The fourth class is a review of the knit stitch and teach/review the purl stitch. If the class is ready, we move into the stockinette stitch. Students will cast off their practice piece and learn to cast on for the next practice piece. I also show samples of the stitches, and begin to discuss projects. This class should be in person and tends to take longer.
July 30 In person The fifth class is a review of the stockinette, discussion of any issues, and instruction as to how to read a pattern and start a project.
